The last week of November 2020 has see day of winds over 20 knots for La Ventana, Baja Sur, Mexico. The graphic below shows the large high pressure area that has changed shape and size a lot over this period but has stay centered in the Great Basin and 4 corners (where all the USA square states meet)  area.

This location creates a strong pressure gradient over the Sea of Cortez which in turn produces El Norte winds winds.

These winds curve into the beaches as N to NNE winds due to the local inland valley pressure gradient which also produces local sea breezes that augment the winds.

Add to this some strong winds at 1000 feet aloft and you have the makings for days of strong wind especially on Baja’s East Cape.

At this time, it looks like this type of pattern and wind continues for almost another week.
