Tybee island ride spots

The unique shape of the island provides spots to ride at all wind directions.

Flat water is frequently available on the north and south ends.

There are no restrictions along the beaches except no riding in close proximity of the Tybee Beach Pier.

Follow the 100 yard rule when keeping clear of swimmers and surfers.

Tybee Island South - Chatham Ave. to 19th Street

Chatham Ave. access is a great low tide spot with southerly winds.

Area to east of Tybee Beach Parking experiences powerful current and can include moderate swell.   Area remains shallow well out from the beach on low tide.

No riding in close proximity to the Tybee Beach Pier.

Tybee Island - 2nd Street

Parking available on 2nd Street and along Butler Ave.

Wide beach great for for setup and launch.

Tybee Island Northeast

On north to northeast winds, stay south of the jetty (North Beach Rocks).

Swell from container ships is common.

North of the North Beach Rocks, shallows extend far from the beach on W and NW winds with a low tide.

Street parking available near Tybee Island Dog Park on Van Horne Ave. and Fort Ave.

Strong tidal currents from the South Channel of the Savannah River.

Swell from container ships is common.

Great downwind track to and from Wassaw Island North Beach.

Wassaw Island North Beach only accessible via the water.

Be aware of tidal currents in and out of Wassaw Sound.
