I am sure that at 10 AM yesterday everyone who reads this forecast in La Ventana and Los Barriles were convinced that all my caveats about clouds spoiling the upper teens to low 20’s forecast were correct. The waters were calm and clouds everywhere. But like magic the skies mostly cleared for La Ventana and the winds actually exceeded the forecast. But no such look for Los Barriles.

These images how how the huge cloud mass from the large storm shifted a bit south of La Ventana allowing the Los Planes valley to heat creating the critical local pressure gradient. Look at all the sensors in the Rasta Beach to Baja Joes area and note  how they all exceed 20 mph. But as the satellite imagery shows Los Barriles remained mostly clouds shrouded and its wind graphs show much weaker wind.
